A court in Russia’s Far East Kamchatka region has removed an Oscar-winning Walt Disney Donald Duck short about Nazi Germany from the national list of extremist materials.
The eight-minute 1943 cartoon, titled Der Fuehrer’s Face, was originally put on the list six years ago after a court case, while the local resident who uploaded it was given a six-month suspended sentence for “inciting hatred and enmity”.
The cartoon, which features Donald Duck and depicts Nazi Germany under Hitler, cannot be viewed as “extremist” because it portrays a caricature of Nazi rule and was made as anti-Hitler propaganda, according to the new court decision.
