Moscow’s Pravda Centre of City Culture to team up with street artists

The Pravda Centre of City Culture has announced that it will work together with street artists in an initiative to transform its campus in northwest Moscow.

During the project, Pravda is due collaborate with well known Russian and foreign street artists. The first part will see 11 large facades transformed, the first of which has already been painted by French street artist Fuzi. With the support of fashion and contemporary culture festival Faces and Laces another three facades will receive a new look, while it is hoped that Russian and international leaders in public art will choose to become involved with painting the remaining facades.

The initiative also includes more functional changes to the site, including improved pedestrian and transport routes. The Novoe architectural bureau will take charge of the beautification of public spaces within the site, putting in place a number of design installations.

Officially launching today, the Pravda transformation programme will begin with a visit by famous Milan street artist Nemco Uno, whose recent project makes use of both engraving and graffiti techniques. Details of the event can be found on Facebook.

The Pravda City Culture Centre is a new industrial conversion project that sees the former site of the eponymous Soviet publication transformed into a space for offices and warehouses, with the aim of becoming a hub for creative and digital initiatives, as well as a social space.
