Kosovo rising star Era Istrefi goes viral worldwide

Pristina-born singer Era Istrefi has become an internet sensation, with the video for her hit Bonbon drawing more than 125 million views on YouTube.

The fact that the song is mostly in Albanian doesn’t seem to have hindered its international success, making the Top 100 in countries including the UK, Canada, France and Germany.

Following the immense success of Bonbon after its original release in February this year, Istrefi has now signed a $1.5 million contract with music giants Sony Music and Ultra Music.
