Nina Kraviz, Moa Pillar and Kedr Livanskiy all up for the Jaegermeister Indie Awards

Jaegermeister Indie Awards have announced the shortlist for this year’s prize dedicated to independent music from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.

Leading the pack with three nominations is Kiev rap group Griby (Mushrooms), who are in the running for three coveted categories — Video of the year, Single of the year and Group of the year.

Up and running for hip-hop artists of the year, however, are Russian rappers Pharaoh and Oxxxymiron, as well as Russian-speaking Kazakh Scriptonite.

Contenders for the Electronic Artist of the Year include newcomer in Ukrainian house, Cape Cod, and Russian producers Kedr Livanskiy, known for her melancholic, lo-fi tracks, and Moa Pillar, who describes his music as “spiritual bass”, while Nina Kraviz, Leonid Lipelis and Nikita Zibelin are competing for DJ of the year.

The shortlist was formed by music industry experts including editor-in-chief of Afisha, Danil Trabun, and promoter of legendary Moscow club night Arma17, Zhenya Sobol, among others. The next stage of the competition will be open to public, who have the next two weeks to vote for the winners of each category on the competition’s site (in Russian).

Group of the year: Buerak, GSh, Mushrooms

Single of the year: Partymaker by Pika, Intro by Mushrooms, Return Home by Mujuice and Zemfira

Video of the year: Intro by Mushrooms, Nothing by Tesla Boy, A Man’s Word by Max Korzh

Electronic artist of the year: Moa Pillar, Kedr Livanskiy, Cape Cod

Label of the year: Kruzheva (lace), Hyperboloid, Kometa Music

Event of the year: Bol festival, Moscow Music Week, Krugozor bar

DJ of the year: Nina Kraviz, Leonid Lipelis, Nikita Zibelin
