Lithuanian Photography Today: Calvert 22 hosts talk by artist and curator Paul Paper

Tomorrow Calvert 22 will host a talk by artist and curator Paul Paper on contemporary Lithuanian artists, examining the work of six young artists and the distinctive aesthetic of contemporary photography coming out of the country today.

The discussion will trace Lithuanian photography from prior to the country’s independence in 1990 — and the establishment of its school of humanist photography – through to present day contextual projects and artistic experiments, all the while examining the implications of the art form for national identity. Paper will be in conversation with Associate Editor of The Calvert Journal Liza Premiyak.

The talk will present the work of the following artists: Andrew Miksys, Indrė Šerpytytė, Paul Herbst, Ugnė Straigytė, Visvaldas Morkevicius, and Geistė Kinčinaitytė.

A drinks reception will be generously provided by the Lithuanian Cultural Institute.
