If you look up while in the Russian city of Voronezh, you might catch sight of Patrick the starfish, popular childrens cartoon character SpongeBob SquarePants’s best friend.

Vandals (or artists, depending on your perspective/cartoon preferences) climbed a spire to transform a Soviet star into the character on 25 October.

Nobody has claimed ownership of the artwork yet, but members of a local urban climbing group have offered to clean the star themselves. According to estimates, the restoration work will cost around 100,000 rubles ($1,530).

Could pineapple houses be next on the cards?
