Polish artist Seikon has added a dynamic mural to the wall of a balneotherapy centre in Świdnica, southwestern Poland.
Seikon’s artwork can be read as a celebration of balneotherapy — the treatment of disease by bathing, often in spa waters rich in particular minerals such as silica, sulphur or selenium. The mural reflects the history of balneotherapy, visualising its use of raw materials and echoing its development from a technique often advocated by soothsayers to one commonly practised to complement clinical medicine.
Completed within just one week, Seikon’s contemporary mural brings vibrancy to a building dating from the 1970s and conveys a certain momentum, reflecting the notion of balneotherapy moving into the contemporary era.
