John Malkovich has joined the board of trustees of a new acting school in Moscow, which aims to give young Russians the chance to train as actors. Cinemotion Acting School will be headed by Lithuation actress Ingeborga Dapkunaite who has had a number of minor roles in films such as Hannibal Rising (2007), Seven Years in Tibet (1997) and Mission: Impossible (1996).

The school has also attracted American screenwriter Robert McKee and British theatre director Ian Wooldridge to its board of trustees. Speaking to RIA Novosti, Wooldridge said that he believed the Stanislavisky system, better known as “method acting”, has been indispensable to the world of theatre and film. He added that while Russian actors had the potential to prosper abroad they were held back by a lack of English.

The school was set up by Cinemotion, a Moscow-based independent film school, specialising in part-time education and masterclasses in film. The school runs a number of courses including filmmaking, producing and screenwriting.
