Savour the slopes at the Georgian ski resort crafted from shipping containers

20 March 2017

Georgia’s new Quadrum Ski and Yoga Resort has caught the attention of winter sports fans and architecture buffs alike — the boutique hotel, set in the popular skiing spot of Gudauri, is made entirely from repurposed shipping containers.

Built 2,200m above sea level, the hotel’s design is inspired by the mountainous landscape itself, with the stacked containers taking on a pyramid shape that ensures stunning panoramic views from every room.

“Built in a minimalist style, the hotel seems to repeat the local terrain, cascading down the mountainside. The philosophy behind the project was to safeguard the environment from the harmful effects of work and leisure,” said a representative for, who photographed the resort, quoted by UK magazine Metro.
