Next month New York will welcome the 14th edition of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian Film Festival (BHFF), an annual event celebrating the best of contemporary Bosnian-Herzegovinian cinema, as well as films taking the country as a major theme or location.
Taking place from 12 – 15 April 2017, BHFF’s main programme is divided into sections, each tackling a salient social or cultural theme: war trauma, youth, disability, and economic hardship. The programme features both the work of young filmmakers and long-established regional names, including Oscar-winning director Danis Tanović and acclaimed actress Mirjana Karanović, who will make her directorial debut.
A programme of special events will accompany these screenings, including Q&As with directors and a special screening of Branko Ištvančić‘s documentary essay Album, which will be followed by a round table discussion by film scholars on issues surrounding national identity in post-Yugoslav cinema.
The Bosnian-Herzegovinian Film Festival will take place from 12 — 15 April 2017 at New York’s SVA theatre. Find out more here.
