If you’re a fan of St Petersburg’s Present Perfect Festival, clear your diary for 22 April — you won’t want to miss Rooms, the second event in the OFF series by musical collective and record label Roots United, the team behind Present Perfect.
Beginning with Unlock in February, five unique events by OFF are taking place throughout 2017 at the Artplay Design Centre in St Petersburg, once the site of a major factory. Each of the five events has an individual theme and takes over a particular section of the former factory, with an impressive lineup of local and international artists providing a musical complement to the industrial setting. Roots United have also commissioned a number of site-specific neon visual installations from across Russia.
The second installment of OFF will see part of the building’s second floor transformed into a single labyrinthine system of three dance floors, exhibition rooms for art objects and recreational areas. Rooms’ three dance floors will represent three distinct scenes: electronic, breakbeat and jungle, house. The lineup includes such artists as Moscow electronic star Art Crime, Japanese house act Soichi Terada and DJ Normal 4.
