Russian company launches sanctified smartphones for Easter

13 April 2017

Russian luxury smartphone brand Caviar has launched three Orthodoxy and prayer-themed smartphones to mark Easter.

Two of the iPhone 7 models are dedicated to the “Save and protect” and “Our Father” prayers, with the third featuring the “Life-giving Spring” icon. All the phones were consecrated at Nizhny Novgorod’s Gorodetsky Fedorovsky Monastery.

Each intricate design was created by engraving near pure 999 gold, with the elaborate patterns covering both the back and sides of the phone.

Those wanting to make any particularly blessed calls this Easter weekend will need to act fast, as these are strictly limited edition with only 99 phones of each model available.

Your little piece of smartphone heaven will set you back between 199,000 and 219,000 rubles ($3,500 — $3,900).

Caviar has become known for its lavish iPhone tributes — the company was also responsible for a collection of phones dedicated to oil and gas and a titanium iPhone bearing the image of Vladimir Putin’s face.

Find out more about the smartphones, along with a range of Orthodox Apple watches, on Caviar’s website.
