Calvert 22 Space to host Fashion and the Revolution talk this Thursday 14 September

This Thursday, Calvert 22 Space will host Fashion and the Revolution, a talk on the changing approach to fashion and style from the Russian Revolution to the present.

A panel of experts, including Jukka Gronow (Professor Emeritus of Sociology, Uppsala University) and Djurdja Bartlett (Reader in Histories and Cultures of Fashion at the London College of Fashion) will explore Soviet fashion from an economic, social and cultural perspective. The discussion will address the role of Soviet ideology on people’s perceptions of fashion, as well as how fashion was used to serve the new Soviet order.

Fashion and the Revolution is the Calvert 22 Foundation’s last talk from What Happened in 1917?, a series of lively debates on the impact of the Russian Revolution.
