The cult American director David Lynch is set to open a cinematography institute and film festival in Tbilisi, and will be visiting the country in late November, Georgia’s government website announced.

Lynch’s foundation is also said to be starting a second project in Georgia, this time aimed at post-traumatic rehabilitation and preventing road accidents. The Twin Peaks director has previously spoken out in support of tough traffic regulation.

The Georgian film industry has blossomed in recent years, with local directors sweeping awards at film festivals, local titles bought up by HBO, and a new set of incentives put in place to attract filmmakers.
