BuSH festival takeover: Hungarian band The Qualitons only party with the best

27 October 2017

Each week we’re spotlighting the must-see New East artists at Budapest Showcase Hub, which takes place in the Hungarian capital between 15 - 17 November. Fans of Red Hot Chili Peppers will love the sound of Hungary’s own The Qualitons.

Rumour has it that they are the Red Hot Chili Pepper’s lead singer, Anthony Kiedis’s, favourite Hungarian band. The group formed in 2008, but gained national fame last summer, after their gig in an open-air club near the Danube. It so happens that the members of Red Hot Cilli Peppers, who had a concert in Budapest the next day, stayed in a hotel just around the corner. They heard the concert in their hotel room and liked it so much that they decided to drop by. By the end of the night the two bands had ended up partying together, exchanging numbers and even meeting for a romantic dinner. Since then, The Qualitons have been busy releasing new music and playing at some of the biggest summer festivals. Let’s see who’s going to discover them on their next performance as part of BuSH festival on 17 November.

BuSH is a one-of-a-kind music festival that brings together eastern Europe’s vibrant music community each year for three days in the Hungarian capital.

BuSH will take place between 15-17 November across several venues in Budapest. See the full programme of concerts here and purchase tickets here. If you’re planning on travelling to Budapest, check out our special travel report on the city.
