Croatia’s Mobile Vehicle Technology has unveiled a production-ready version of a “smart bike” that it says represents the future of cycling.

The Grunner X can travel 350 kilometres before it needs recharging and includes features such as handlebars that vibrate when traffic approaches and a remote locking system.

In a statement on their Facebook page, the company said the e-bike represented a “huge revolution in transport”.

Controlled from its owner’s smartphone, the e-bike provides statistics on your cycling activity and gives you the option of re-living a particularly enjoyable cycle without leaving the house via a virtual reality function. The bike contains a USB charging port so you can charge your smartphone whilst on the move.

The company says it’s also possible to wirelessly connect multiple e-bikes so that riders can race each other without being in the same location.

Mobile Vehicle Technology is based in Pisarovina, a small town outside the Croatian capital. Its e-bikes are available to buy at a cost of €6,000 (£5,259).
