Die-hard fans of the Eighties’ Russian post-punk band Zvuki Mu might have been surprised this week to see The National’s latest video. The US indie rock band’s video for Sea of Love is a reenactment of Zvuki Mu’s 1995 video for Rude Sunset. In both, band members, dressed in suits, rock out in a tiny white room before being upstaged by a small child playing air guitar. The National have called the video “a loving homage to one of our favourite punk rock videos”. Zvuki Mu, who have been compared to Captain Beefheart and Talking Heads, once worked with producer Brian Eno.
