Andrey Zvyagintsev’s fifth feature film, Loveless, has been nominated for a Golden Globe.
The Russian drama is nominated for best motion picture in a foreign language.
Other nominees include Chilean drama A Fantastic Woman, Cambodian film First They Killed My Father, Germany’s In the Fade and Swedish satirical drama The Square.
Loveless centres on a Russian couple in the midst of a divorce who must over come their mutual hatred when their young son suddenly goes missing.
The film has already won the Cannes jury prize and been chosen by the Russian Oscars committee for the country’s Academy Awards’ bid.
It’s not the first time that Zvyagintsev has been put forward for a Golden Globe: his film Leviathan won the best foreign language category in 2015, as well as being nominated for an Academy Award in 2015.
