New East designers rise up the table as 2017 World Design Rankings unveiled

Three New East countries have entered the World Design rankings for the first time after receiving top prizes at the A’Design Competition.

Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, and Armenia were among nine nations which appeared in the 2017 rankings.

The move follows victories by Kosovo’s Rron Cena, who won a gold distinction for his 3D printer design, and Armenia’s Edik Boghosian, who took bronze in the graphic design category for his book cover, Wistful Man Diary.

Bosnia and Herzegovina won two medals, including a gold award for the new Hotel Pino Nature Hotel in the outskirts of Sarajevo by Studio Zec.

Faithful household beverage Lipa Pulp also helped Bosnian designer Damir Midzic snag a bronze award in the packaging design category, for his series of bright new bottles and labels.

First place in the rankings was taken by the United States, who came out on top in the list of 97 nations. It was followed by China in second place, while Japan took third.

The top New East nation was Russia in 15th place, followed by Poland in 21st place and Lithuania in 25th place.
