Digital art festival Inversia is returning to Russia’s Arctic circle for its second year of audiovisual exploration.
Artists from across Europe will gather in the Russian city of Murmansk for a special programme exploring the region’s delicate balance between darkness and light.
Screenings, VR-installations, workshops and parties will be fused together with work inspired by the region’s unique geography and heritage, challenging the area’s cultural isolation.
Key events include a joint performance by Finnish duo Wimme&Rinne and Khagaudzh — combining ambient music with traditional Sami and Circassian folklore — and a talk by Digital Heritage on their documenting Murmansk’s indiginous Pomor culture in a VR museum.
Inversia will take place in Murmansk from 1—3 February. More information and regular updates can be found on the Inversia Facebook page.
