A refitted bus on the banks of the Danube is offering pop-up sauna sessions for tired tourists who can’t keep up with the Budapest party scene.

Built into the back of a small mini-bus, the wood-heated sauna provides stunning views of the Hungarian capital from its riverside spot close to the Rákóczi bridge.

Groups of between 4 and 6 people can book the sauna for relaxing 90-minute pamper sessions, with complementary essential oils. A cold shower and changing rooms are also provided on board.

The project is the work of Budapest’s Város és Folyó Egyesület (The City and River Association), which works to care for the Danube and to better integrate the river into local life.

“This sauna stands out thanks to its unique location and beautiful panoramic views,” the group said. “It is a reciprocal oasis or a hideaway from the cold, hectic everyday life.”

Reservations can be made up to 16 February on the Város és Folyó Egyesület Facebook page. For more information, on the charity’s work, click here.
