Follow Troy Litten, photographer and designer from San Francisco who regularly travels the New East in search of design gems.
Posting everything from architecture photography to hearty canteen food and bright pink toilet paper, Litten’s Instagram account @troylitten covers all of the region, but his latest trip includes Albania, Kosovo, Ukraine, Slovakia, Hungary and Czech Republic.
Litten says he first took a trip to Prague in 1991 and has been hooked on the region ever since. His particular interest lies in all forms of communist design. “I’m particularly interested in exploring and documenting everyday life remnants of the communist era – everything from metros and public transportation to markets, housing, cars, signage, telephones, street scenes, and as a graphic designer all forms of visual communication”, he says.
