Kinoteka 2018: London’s Polish Film Festival returns

Polish film festival Kinoteka is heading back to London with a special programme celebrating 100 years since the restoration of Polish independence.

As well as showing the best picks from contemporary Polish cinema, the festival is reviving archival gems from the last century of Polish film. It will close with a rare screening of the 1927 silent classic The Call of the Sea — a turbulent tale of romance directed by Henryk Szaro. The maritime love story will be accompanied by live musicians creating a soundtrack on the piano, synth and trumpet.

Events spotlighting women filmmakers and Jewish-Polish cinema will take place alongside masterclasses, workshops, music and theatre at some of London’s top cultural venues.

Kinoteka is organised by the Polish Cultural Institute in London in partnership with Pola Arts Foundation. It is co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

The 16th Kinoteka Polish Film Festival will take place from 7 — 29 March at venues around London. A full programme can be found here.
