Sarajevo’s communist-era cable cars are being reopened after a government-backed restoration programme to revive the former landmark.
Originally opened back in 1959, the Trebević cable car quickly became a Sarajevo icon, but was destroyed when the city fell under siege during the Bosnian War.
The city’s mayor, Abdulah Skaka, has already hailed the line’s restoration as one of the city’s largest investments since the end of the conflict.
The reconstructed cable car line, which connect Sarajevo’s old town and the Trebević mountain, will be opened as part of City Day celebrations on 6 April.
