These Moscow apartments are replacing keys with face recognition tech

A new Moscow apartment building has unveiled a fully-functioning facial recognition system designed to replace residents’ keys.

Created by Russian tech firms VisionLabs and Alphaopen, the system has been installed at the LITSA apartment complex in north-west Moscow, ready to be rolled out across the 1,000 flats in the building.

As well as allowing homeowners to enter the building without a key, the system automatically selects each resident’s floor when they enter the lift, and keeps tabs on cars and pedestrians leaving the complex.

Residents also have access to a dedicated app in order to access the building’s concierge, room service, intercom system and to order groceries.
