Russian street artist Timofei Radya sends message to Putin

One of Russia’s most celebrated street artists, Timofei Radya, has written a personal note to President Vladimir Putin on a billboard outside the presidential envoy’s residence in Yekaterinburg. Addressing Putin by his first name, Radya warns the president of the lasting impact that Russia’s presence in Ukraine will have on future generations of both countries.

“There will be boys and girls who will grow up even after you and I are long gone, but these bullets will pierce their heads and hearts, and they themselves will shoot each other, with the same bullets that fly through time,” the message reads.

Radya is well known for his political street art. Last year, he won first prize at the Cutlog art fair in New York for an installation of a a pyramid constructed from riot shields. The pyramid, which came crashing down just minutes after it was erected, was a comment on the fragility of power in Russia.
