Russia’s leading internet and graphic design agency has won an online vote for the best redesign of the Moscow Metro map. Art Lebedev Studio redrew the Moscow Metro map for a second time in three years, with even cleaner graphics and a raft of new details. The new map, which includes landmarks, parks, rivers, alternative transport routes and disability access points, won more than 50% of the online vote. Transliteration of station names into English is also more user-friendly. The Department for Transport will make minor changes to the map, which will be in use in stations over the coming months. The agency’s first redesign of the map was carried out in 2010. Art Lebedev Studio was founded in 1995 by Artemy Lebedev, a renowned Russian web and graphic designer, who has travelled to 172 countries as part of a personal mission to visit every country in the world.
