The need for tweed: riding through Moscow with the city’s best-dressed cyclists

Style mavens in Moscow dressed up in their finest British garb last weekend for an annual Tweed Ride — a leisurely jaunt along Vorobyovskaya Embankment, south of the city centre. The bike ride, which saw cyclists donning bow ties, straw boaters and reams of Harris Tweed, culminated in a tea party at Neskuchny Garden. Once there, the best dressed (and best moustachioed) picked up prizes, including a trip to Scotland. The first Tweed Ride took place in London in 2009 before heading to Moscow last year. Today, tweed-clad cycle rides are held in cities stretching from Tokyo in the east to San Francisco in the west.
