Follow suit: art workshop uniforms for a cultural hub in Moscow get a makeover

The winning designs for workshop uniforms for a new cultural space in Moscow have been announced.

Victoria Oganyan, a student at the Moscow-based Higher School of Economics Design School, won the design contest with three sleek and functional designs. The competition called for designers to create uniforms to be used in art workshops at GES-2: a decommissioned power station in the Yakimanka District of Moscow which will be the new site for contemporary art foundation V-A-C. The contest was organised by V-A-C and fashion media outlet The Blueprint.

Oganyan’s projects were offered the maximum points by the jury headed by the prominent fashion designer Gosha Rubchinskiy.

“While working on the sketches, I kept thinking about the questions of the uniform functionality, how the uniform can reflect the brand of the V-A-C Foundation, and at the same time, how it can stay comfortable and cool. I wanted to pack the concepts in the material requirements, while also preserving individuality,” Oganyan said.

The uniforms will be used from November this year.
