In the flesh: the streetwear brand bringing changeable tattoo art into your wardrobe

Kyiv streetwear brand TTSWTRS makes clothes that create the optical illusion of a naked body covered in tattoo art.

TTSWTRS is the brainchild of Anna Osmiekhina, a Ukrainian artist and costume designer.

She’s worked with some of Ukraine’s biggest tattoo artists — including @edtattooer, @rostislaw_ts, and @tatto_sinyak — to create designs for her collections, with art that ranges from simple, stick-and-poke patterns to detailed, dreamy illustrations.

Beige garments designed to “feel like a second skin” are a staple across the brand, from eye-catching bodysuits and underwear to sweatshirts and accessories. Previous collections have caught the attention of celebrities such as Grimes, Kourtney Kardashian, Nicki Minaj, and Nina Kraviz. “[It’s] about accepting your own body and expressing yourself through it,” says Osmiekhina.

Their latest release, the FW21 collection, in addition to the beige staples, also introduces bright white and blue in futuristic pieces, with previously skin-tight silhouettes stretching to encompass oversized jumpers and asymmetrical puffer jackets.

Osmiekhina, who now splits her time between Kyiv and Berlin, started the brand in 2013 with the help of five friends. “My friend was in a relationship with a tattoo artist who had his whole body covered with tattoos and acted all god-like and almighty,” she explains. “I was so inspired by his energy that I decided to create a capsule of sweatshirts with a working title ‘Tattoo Sweaters’. Now, TTSWTRS has turned into a philosophy expressed in our items.”
