Cookies and anarchy: meet the Czech artist baking a revolution

Proving a sweet tooth, entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to revolution can go hand in hand, Czech-Canadian artist Marek Schovánek has come up with an innovative new idea: the Anarchist Cookie Shop.

Schovánek, who also works in oils and mixed media, uses the edible treats to explore the themes of violence, poverty, consummerism, ideology, and art.

Schovánek launched similar cookie-themed exhibitions at the Art Stays Festival in Slovenia in 2012, and at the Dancing House Gallery in Prague three years later.
