Russian news site Mediazona has made the jump from journalism to fashion with a dark new clothing range that perfectly captures the media landscape of 2017.
The outlet’s first line of T-shirts, hoodies and jackets — each printed with the words “It’ll be worse”— sold out within hours of going online.
The range also included an exclusive T-shirt created by Russian hip-hop artist Shilo, with a design inspired by Russia’s Bolotnaya protests.
The launch comes just days after Mediazona announced that it would start crowdfunding in order to keep its operation online. The site, which specialises in in-depth reporting on Russia’s justice system, was founded in 2014 with the help of two former members of Pussy Riot, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina. All profits from the clothing brand will go to the publication.
