Elena Goukassian is an arts writer based in Brooklyn, New York. Born in Sofia to Bulgarian and Armenian parents, her family emigrated to the US in the aftermath of the fall of communism. Elena writes about art, theatre, books, music, film, architecture, and dance. She’s also a huge fan of digging through archives and uncovering unusual histories. Her pieces have appeared in Artsy, Hyperallergic, The Washington Post Express, DCist, Sculpture magazine and Washington City Paper, among others.
