Publishing powerhouse Condé Nast is set to launch a dedicated Czech edition of its flagship fashion title Vogue as part of a new wave of expansion across the New East.

Published in Czech, the debut edition of Vogue Czech Republic and Slovakia will hit news stands in August this year along with a dedicated website.

The launch forms part of an agreement with Prague-based V24 Media, who will lead the magazine’s strategic vision.

The brand hopes to harness events such as Prague Fashion Week to grow revenues and shine a spotlight on the country’s emerging design scene. “There’s a strong appetite for luxury fashion and beauty [in the region]”, said Condé Nast Internation’s chief executive Jonathan Newhouse in a statement.

The announcement comes just weeks after the launch of Vogue Poland, which split opinion with a controversial debut cover by photographer Juergen Teller. Justyna Markiewicz, managing director of the Condé Nast’s Polish partner Visteria, said they hoped to tap into the country’s rapidly expanding luxury goods market. “There is no questioning that Vogue Polska is the most eagerly awaited title of the last decade”, she said.
