A new museum dedicated to the era-defining phenomenon of selfies is now open to the public in Belgrade.
The Selfie Museum, which opened in Serbia’s capital last month, relies on optical illusions, and invites visitors to take selfies against 20 different backgrounds, including replicas of the bottom of the sea, clouds, and a mermaid’s tail.
The museum follows in the footsteps of other art institutions dedicated to humanity’s best-documented narcissistic impulse. Europe saw its first (Sweets and) Selfie Museum welcome visitors in Budapest in December 2018, four years after the world’s first ever selfie museum opened in the Philippines’ capital of Manila in April 2015.
Belgrade’s Selfie Museum is open 1pm to 10pm on weekdays, and from 10am to 10pm on weekends.
