Founded by amateur curator Zsuzsa Koncz five years ago, the account started as a place where Koncz could post artworks she liked and happened to discover online. But as the account has gathered a dedicated following, she has also widened her scope.
“Today I see Art Cage as a platform of inspiration and visual education,” she told The Calvert Journal. “There is a saying: with big money comes big responsibility. I believe the same applies to a large follower base, which is why I started to invest more time into finding relatively unknown, emerging artists, so that they can get discovered by curators, collectors, and their future audience,” she added.
The account relishes in its eclectic tastes and varied media, featuring a range of artists, from constructivist Hungarian artist László Péri to contemporary portrait photographers such as @igorburba, @Anka_zhuravleva_arts, @stepukas or @alexander_sviridov_photoart.
